La Casa Review
By Brandon Carleton, November 4, 2014
I can recall first going to La Casa when they first opened. I lived only a few blocks away at the time and their was a stretch of time when my wife and I would walk down to La Casa almost every week. Their food and their service has always been great, so it didn't take long for me to become a big fan
of La Casa.
I have had many things from their menu and they are all great. Burrito, tamale, tacos, gorditas, enchiladas--all great! Their carnitas are amazing and I also really like their type of chorizo. One neat thing that separates La Casa from many other places is their salsa selection. They have 5 different salsas that are all really good. Almost all of them have that roasted tomatillo taste, which I love. Each one is very unique and tastes unlike any other salsa in the QC. The only salsa that I have found that has a similar taste is at El Mexicano.
On to their service. Ask anyone who has been there and you typically will hear one of two things, or both. I typically hear, "The food comes out so fast, it is crazy." The other comment I hear is, "They treat us like family. We get to talking. They know about my kids, I know about their kids. They are great people!" I can certainly attest to the first comment. Last time I was their, the food came out before we even finished our first bowl of chips and salsa. Which brings me to an important point, they charge a dollar for your second bowl of chips. This seems crazy, but not when the food comes out so quickly! And then the food is so good you almost don't want to waste stomach space on any more chips.
Bottom Line: Their portions are huge and will not break the bank. Don't let the small exterior fool you, big things are happening inside at La Casa!
